When deciding on what type of dog you want to bring into your family, there are a lot of things to consider.

Do you want a large dog or a small dog?

Should you pick a high-energy dog, or does your lifestyle cater more toward a dog that likes to sleep all day on the couch?

And, of course, you have to evaluate whether a specific breed of dog is safe to introduce into your home or not.

Personally, I believe all breeds of dogs are wonderful.

I truly think that, with proper training, you can adopt any breed of dog, whether it be a golden retriever, a chihuahua, or a German Shepherd, and train him to be a lovely member of your family.

That being said, there are breeds, like German Shepherds, that have been bred for centuries to perform specific jobs—like working with the police force—that have developed traits that might be a little tougher to deal with.

For now  let us focus on the  German Shepherd—and discuss the common behavioral issues associated with this breed.

This is not to scare you.

The German Shepherd is a  beautiful and lovely dog. However, because they are a breed that is so smart and strong, it is important to understand what you’re getting yourself into if you decide to adopt one.
